A delegation of Jizzakh region’s Hosiyatli Bog’ Plus farm, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, held a meeting and established partnership with Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
Prospects for cooperation in creating an intensive garden and a modern greenhouse in Bakhmal district of Jizzakh region were discussed at the meeting.
The project worth 21 million USD provides for planting over 180 hectares of apple, almond, sweet cherry seedlings, as well as construction of modern highly effective greenhouses, installation of cold stores and drying equipment from leading world manufacturers.
The established production facilities will allow to cultivate, process and export agricultural products mainly to the neighboring countries of Uzbekistan, as well as to Russia.
The launch of the project is scheduled for March 2019. Production will reach full capacity by 2021. This will become the first project funded by OPIC after signing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Investment Committee of Uzbekistan and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation within the framework of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States in May 2018.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, a number of other investment projects in hotel business, development of private medical services, as well as agriculture are currently being developed with OPIC.
