National Database to implement UN recommendations

The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, OHCHR Treaty Body Capacity Building Programme together with UNDP in Uzbekistan have organized an online workshop, where the National Database on tracking recommendations of UN Charter and Treaty Bodies were presented.

First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, Chief of the Anti-Torture, Coordination and Funds Section at the Human Rights Treaties Branch of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Antti Korkeakivi and Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia Richard Komenda addressed the event.
 
Within the framework of implementation of the recommendations made by the UN Human Rights Mechanisms, in December 2018, Uzbekistan has established a national mechanism for preparation of reports, giving NCHR the appropriate powers.
 
NCHR together with OHCHR Regional Office for Central Asia with the support of UNDP, developed and implemented the National database for tracking recommendations.
 
The National database is planned to be made publicly available, which will significantly improve its transparency and capacity of state bodies and civil society.
