/«Dunyo» IA/. On the second day of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Azerbaijan, the Heads of the two states, together with their spouses, visited the cities of Fuzuli and Shusha, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of state, over the past almost 30 years, Fuzuli has been destroyed and turned into a ghost town. Before the hostilities, about 18 thousand people lived here.

After starting restoration activities in 2020, life gradually returns to the city. Housing, social, and transport infrastructure are being built.

At this critical and challenging moment, Uzbekistan stands next to Azerbaijan. After all, the relationship between the two peoples is rooted in history. We are united by one religion, the proximity of language and traditions, spiritual values and cultures.

As a sign of lasting friendship and solidarity, the President of Uzbekistan, at the informal summit of the Turkic Council on March 31, 2021, noted Uzbekistan's readiness to restore monuments and cultural and enlightenment facilities in Karabakh.

The construction of a modern school No. 1 named after Mirzo Ulugbek in the city of Fuzuli, designed for 960 students, became the practical implementation of the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan.

The school has 40 classrooms, 6 laboratories, 2 computer science classrooms, 5 functional classrooms, assembly and sports halls, a dining room, and a library. A football field, places for recreation and events, and running tracks have been built on its territory.

The new school will bring our people closer together, introducing young Azerbaijanis to Uzbekistan's rich history, culture, and great ancestors’ heritage.

The two countries' leaders, together with their spouses, cut the red ribbon and solemnly opened the school.

The Presidents inspected the academic buildings and school grounds and had a warm conversation with students, wishing them success in their studies.

Then, the Heads of state visited a residential complex under construction in the city of Fuzuli.

The Presidents met with neighborhood residents, who were handed keys to the new apartments. The Head of state congratulated them on their housewarming.

During the sincere conversation, strong friendship and fraternal relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were noted.

The Leader of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction the return of life in Fuzuli to normal, highly appreciated landscaping activities carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev on the restoration and development of Karabakh, ensuring the most comfortable conditions for the population. The President wished peace, tranquility, and prosperity to the people of Azerbaijan.

The Heads of state visited new apartments. Then, the leaders went up to the observation deck and examined the consequences of the destruction and the progress of construction activities. The President of Uzbekistan was informed about plans to restore Fuzuli.
