According to MIFT, the parties discussed issues of further developing a partnership with GGGI within the framework of the implementation of the multilateral roadmap for sustainable development of the Aral Sea region and the mobilization of climate finance.
Aaron Russell expressed GGGI’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation to promote green growth and develop a project to attract grant funds from the GCF (Green Climate Fund) to create coordination mechanisms for the use of green bonds for the development of the Aral Sea region.
Cooperation between GGGI and the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region in Uzbekistan will provide an opportunity to promote integrated approaches to solving existing challenges such as social, economic and environmental problems to coordinate activities in the development of the Aral Sea region, as well as to combine efforts to achieve sustainable development goals.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on concrete steps for further cooperation aimed at improving the Aral Sea region's living standards.
