Meeting with the Special Adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran.

On May 1, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Special Adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Chairman of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran Kamal Kharazi.

The parties discussed bilateral, international and regional issues.

At the meeting, the mutual interest in cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, transport and communication, cultural, humanitarian and other fields was confirmed.

Issues of interaction within the UN, SCO, OIC, and other organizations were considered. The Iranian party confirmed its participation in the Second OIC Summit on Science and Technology 2020 in Tashkent.

The sides spoke for holding regular inter-MFA political consultations and meetings of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to prospects for building the Mazar-i-Sharif – Herat railway, the importance of full implementation of Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Oman transport corridor agreement for strengthening interregional ties were noted.

The parties also considered issues of increasing tourist, cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Ambassador of Iran Bahman Agharazi Dormani attended the negotiations.
