On November 12, 2018, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilyor Khakimov met with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Lamberto Zannier in Hague, Netherlands.

Former OSCE Secretary General praised Uzbekistan's policy of openness aimed at strengthening regional and international cooperation in Central Asia and organization as a whole.

As High Commissioner noted, Uzbekistan, as a multi-ethnic country with more than 100 different ethnic groups and minorities, is a model of harmonious coexistence among different nations and people. In this regard, he highly appreciated well-thought-out policy of democratic reforms conducted under the leadership of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, within the framework of which human interests remain in the center of attention according to “it is not the people who must serve the government bodies, but rather the government bodies that must serve the people” formula.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Benelux, during the conversation it was noted that 2018 is a special year in modern history – on November 11, the world celebrated the 100 years since the end of World War I, one of the most terrible tragedies in the history.

In addition, the 70th Anniversary of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights will be celebrated on December 10, adopted in 1948 following the Second World War. This date is of particular importance for Uzbekistan. A complex of various projects and initiatives is being implemented in Uzbekistan within the framework of the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On the program of measures dedicated to 70th Anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights” of May 5, 2018.
