On 1 April 2019, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the European Union Delegation led by Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian and Special Envoy for Afghanistan Roland Kobia.
Uzbekistan's efforts on facilitating the launch of political process in Afghanistan and possible cooperation in this direction, major infrastructure projects implemented by Uzbekistan in Afghanistan, prospects for implementation of bilateral and multilateral socio-humanitarian projects within the framework of economic assistance to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan's efforts on assisting Afghanistan in training Afghanistan youth in new areas, in particular, training medical personnel and other working professions were discussed at the event.
During the visit, the European delegation will visit Surkhandarya region and get acquainted with activities of Termez Cargo Logistics Center, measures taken to expand its capabilities aimed at stimulating the development of trade and increasing the volume of export-import operations of visas to Afghanistan.
Head of the EU delegation, Ambassador Eduards Stiprais attended the negotiations.
