Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the meeting at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), the delegation of Khorezm region got acquainted with the activities of this organization, introduced scientific and innovative technological solutions for growing fruit and vegetables.

MARDI was founded on the initiative of the Malaysian government in 1971 in order to commercialize scientific research in the field of agricultural processing, introduction of modern advanced technological solutions and the modernization of existing production facilities for the production of food products.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to foster cooperation between Khorezm regional Khokimiyat and MARDI in the field of exploring the possibility of introducing scientific developments of the Malaysian Institute into the agricultural sector of the region.

Also, in order to familiarize with the industrial potential of Malaysia, the Uzbek delegation visited the exhibition Malaysia Halal Expo 2019, organized by the Ministry of Enterprise Development of Malaysia.

In the course of participation at the exhibition, with the Malaysian importers, issues of the possibility of organizing export supplies of fresh and dry fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Malaysia were discussed.

At the same time, the Joint Program on implementation of the HALAL certification system in Uzbekistan is being developed, which includes studying the Malaysian experience in supporting small and medium-sized businesses in Malaysia, introducing a system of prompt notification of hazardous consumer goods, as well as sharing standards and organizing internships in this area.

Earlier, the Islamic Development Department "JAKIM" and the Agency "Uzstandart" signed a protocol of Intent on the joint implementation of halal certification in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek agency officially recognized the Malaysian organization as the official body for issuing halal certification.

JAKIM is the only government body that accredits testing laboratories (issuing a HALAL certificate) and certifies their activities. JAKIM has its own institute “Latihan Islam”, where advanced training courses are held for employees of testing laboratories on ISO family standards and the introduction of the HALAL certification system.

The above measures will significantly improve the competitiveness of goods from Uzbekistan in the markets of Muslim countries, as well as play an important role in attracting citizens of these countries as guests to Uzbekistan through Ziyorat tourism.
