Karakalpak Ethno Aul Tourist Center opens in Nukus

Karakalpak Ethno Aul Tourist Center has been commissioned in Nukus.

The center was built with the support of USAID’s Gender Development Fund.

USAID provided the Nitsa Nukus Company under the leadership of local entrepreneur Amina Bekjonova with 15 yurts worth thousand. The yurts on the shore of the Ashshikkul introduce tourists to the Karakalpak culture and handicrafts of the region.

In the yurts, guests can buy Karakalpak carpets, confectionery, and taste dishes of national cuisine. As part of this initiative, USAID provides new technologies for developing and expanding private business to women engaged in agribusiness, handicrafts, textile production and agro-tourism in Uzbekistan.

In particular, as of October 2022, about 40 women entrepreneurs were provided with new technologies and equipment to expand and develop businesses worth more than 0 thousand.

The participants became familiar with the activities of the Karakalpak Ethno Aul Tourist Center and the conditions created for guests. Exhibitions of folk crafts and national costumes, a concert program of folklore and pop performers, folk games were also presented to their attention.
