Inter-parliamentary cooperation issues discussed in Riga

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov has met with the Chairman of the Group for the Promotion of Cooperation of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia with the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Committee on Economy, Agriculture, Environment and Regional Policy, Romāns Naudiņš, in Riga.

The parties exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian interaction, as well as migration. They also discussed the schedule and agenda of the upcoming inter-parliamentary contacts.
 
The Ambassador informed the Latvian side about the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, forwarded at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
 
The Latvian deputy emphasized the importance and timeliness of proposals of Uzbekistan President, which, in his opinion, cover the most important areas of the current international agenda.
 
Romāns Naudiņš welcomed the creation in the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan of an inter-parliamentary group for cooperation with the Saeima of Latvia.
 
An agreement was reached on working out the issue of organizing talks between the parliamentary groups of Uzbekistan and Latvia via videoconference to discuss the current issues of bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
