Indian pharmaceutical company expands cooperation with Uzbekistan

On July 2 this year, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to India, Dilshod Akhatov, held talks with the Managing Director of Kusum Healthcare, Sanjeev Gupta, via videoconference.

Founded in 1997, Kusum Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. is a 100 percent export-oriented unit, with its headquarters in New Delhi. In 2007 the company’s first formulation plant was started in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, followed by another state of the art plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh managing production in India.
 
The company’s products are marketed in 9 countries namely Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan in CIS countries with fully integrated operations with sales, marketing, warehousing, distribution, regulatory, Pharmacovigilance and all support functions. Apart from these the products are also marketed in Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam in the ASEAN countries and also in Kenya, Africa.
 
In 2005, this company opened its representative office in Uzbekistan, which today employs more than 120 people.
 
Sanjeev Gupta emphasized that, based on a number of factors, such as favorable investment climate created in Uzbekistan, qualified personnel, good raw materials and infrastructure opportunities, the company intends to expand its presence in the country. He expressed interest in implementing a project for production of antibiotics, antifungal, antirheumatic drugs and painkillers at Tashkent Pharma Park in Zangiata district of Tashkent region. According to him, about 100 new jobs will be created as a result of the launch of production.
 
The parties agreed to organize additional negotiations with participation of the leadership of the Agency for Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
