Following the first day of the 25th Session of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council, bilateral documents were signed

TASHKENT, February 4. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, the 25th Session of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) took place, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the event was organized by the UK Department for International Trade, MIFT, as well as diplomatic missions of the two countries. 

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov addressed the session.

The Minister of State for Trade Policy in the Department for International Trade, Greg Hands, the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov, the British Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Tim Torlot, and Uzbekistan Ambassador Said Rustamov delivered speeches. 

The speakers emphasized that the UBTIC meeting opened a new page in the development of Uzbekistan – British business relations, as evidenced by the growing interest of UK companies in the rapidly changing market of Uzbekistan. The event gathered the largest number of participants in the entire history of UBTIC: more than 700 participants representing such large companies as British Petroleum, Energy Industries Council, Rio Tinto, Worley Parsons, Petrofac, Cambridge Education Partnership, Mott MacDonald, TheCityUK, Sturgeon Capital.

The British side highly assessed the dynamics and effectiveness of systemic reforms in various sectors of the economy, as well as voiced their readiness to further enhance economic ties with Uzbekistan as one of the key partners of the UK in Central Asia.

Following the first day of the event, bilateral documents were signed on cooperation between universities of the two countries, including under double degree programs, in particular with the British universities of Portsmouth, Bangor, Strathclyde, and Cambridge.
