Yildirim Holding to build a power station in Uzbekistan

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Abdualiyev met with the executive director for business development of the Turkish company Yildirim Holding Metin Octay on 25 April 2019.

As part of the implementation of the Resolution of the President of Uzbekistan No. PP-4286 dated 13 April 2019, the sides discussed the implementation of an investment project for the construction of the first power plant on the principles of public-private partnership.

The project worth USnewscat="economy".2 billion, developed with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Turkey, will be implemented in Surkhandarya region through foreign direct investment. It is assumed that the combined-cycle thermal power plant capacity on natural gas will be 900 MW.

Metin Oktay noted that the company is aware of the importance of this project and intends to attract the most advanced technologies and know-how in order to build a modern power plant that meets international environmental standards.

During the meeting, an exchange of views on promising projects in the chemical industry, transport infrastructure, mining industry and other fields was also held.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, Yildirim Holding is one of the leading companies in Turkey, specializing in such sectors as energy, transport infrastructure and logistics, chemical and mining industry. It has joint investment projects with more than 50 companies in Turkey and foreign countries, including the United States, Spain, Russia and others.
