Uzbekistan, Japan Deputy Prime Ministers reach agreements on key aspects of cooperation

TASHKENT, January 18. /Dunyo IA/. On January 15, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has held virtual talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Japan, Taro Aso, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the parties discussed the current agenda of the multifaceted partnership between the two countries, as well as prospects for its expansion. A positive trend was noted in the development of trade, economic, financial, technical and investment cooperation within the framework of the agreements reached following the high-level visit to Japan in December 2019.

The progress of cooperation with JICA, as well as issues related to the implementation of large bilateral investment projects, were considered. The Japanese side noted the growing interest of Japanese private business representatives in the creation of joint ventures in Uzbekistan in production and services.

The organization of joint events scheduled for this year, including the holding of the 3rd meeting of Uzbekistan – Japan Interparliamentary Forum, as well as regular meetings of Uzbekistan – Japan and Japan – Uzbekistan committees for economic cooperation, to be held in Tashkent, were considered.

Following the talks, the parties outlined further steps within the framework of multifaceted cooperation and reached specific agreements on key aspects of interaction.
