The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan took part in the opening ceremony of the Fifth Silk Road International Expo

TASHKENT, May 12. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian countries and the People's Republic of China attended the opening ceremony of the Fifth Silk Road International Expo in Xi'an (Shaanxi Province, China) via videoconference within the framework of the second meeting in “China – Central Asia” format, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov addressed the event.

In his speech, Uzbekistan’s FM noted that this international exhibition is a clear confirmation of the growing interest in the prospects for implementing joint projects to revive ancient ties on the Great Silk Road.

The importance of the international EXPO in the development of interregional trade-economic and investment cooperation, the exchange of scientific achievements and advanced technologies, and the strengthening of relations in the cultural-humanitarian sphere was noted.

Abdulaziz Kamilov drew the attention of the participants to the unique geographical location of Central Asia, which plays an important connecting role in the modern process of interregional cooperation.

The importance of taking a set of practical measures to restore global post-pandemic development was noted. “It is necessary to unite efforts in search of new development drivers and growth points. The driving forces are designed to be the introduction of innovative solutions, the development of the digital economy, the promotion of e-commerce, the diversification of transport communications”, the Minister stressed.

Uzbekistan's readiness to actively participate in the implementation of investment and infrastructure projects within the framework of the initiative to revive the Great Silk Road was confirmed.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in China organized the national stand “Uzbekistan” at the Silk Road Expo to demonstrate various types of export-oriented products of Uzbekistan manufacturers that are in demand in the world's largest Chinese market.

The exhibition will feature products of 10 major domestic companies in the agricultural and food sector of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the Export Promotion Agency.
