Strengthening of multifaceted economic cooperation with Russia

On April 24 this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov had a video conference with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation A. Overchuk. The parties negotiated on progress and prospects of Uzbek-Russian cooperation in trade, investment, industrial interaction and logistics.

The parties highly appreciated the progress in the strategic partnership between two countries and its dynamics sharp increase for the past three years.

At the same time, they emphasized significant untapped potential for further expansion of investment, trade and economic cooperation, as well as the need in joint development of specific proposals to implement this potential.

As noted, there is an implementation phase of large joint projects in petroleum chemistry, mining, energy, construction materials, and fruit and vegetable processing.

The parties noted the urgency of work in new areas of investment and industrial cooperation to form a list of new solid agreements. They separately considered possible establishment of joint trading and logistics companies, wholesale and distribution centers for fruits and vegetables, agricultural clusters, etc.

Besides, they considered specific proposals in trade partnership, namely, measures to expand the range and volumes of mutual deliveries of products demanded on the markets of both countries.

The parties also agreed to combine efforts of relevant organizations from both countries to prepare joint exhibition and congress events, i.e. Interregional Business Forum, Educational Forum and the Media Forum planned for this year.

The video conference resulted in agreement to continue in-depth cooperation within indicated areas to achieve specific mutually beneficial outputs.
