Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan with the Chairman of JBIC discussed issues of financing the creation of environmentally friendly industries in our country

TASHKENT, December 15. /Dunyo IA/. Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the CEO of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda, in Tokyo, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the parties reviewed the progress of joint projects and prospects for enhancing cooperation. It was noted that thanks to the financial and technical assistance of JBIC in Uzbekistan, 3.6 million worth of strategically important projects in energy, telecommunications, transport infrastructure and other areas have been successfully implemented.

The sides expressed their readiness to further enhance cooperation in the implementation of large economically significant projects with involvement of Japanese technologies.

In particular, prospects for the development of investment partnership in green technologies, which is especially relevant in light of the task set by the Japanese government to completely eliminate the use of carbon as an energy source by 2050, were discussed.

Practical aspects related to projects in information and telecommunication technologies, which are currently under implementation, were also considered.

Prospects for deepening cooperation between JBIC and Uzbekistan commercial banks through the allocation of special credit lines for export financing were discussed.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on a joint study of opportunities for the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan on creating environmentally friendly industrial production facilities that contribute to sustainable development, including in environmental protection and prevention of global warming.
