Delhi hosted Uzbekistan – India Business Forum.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjayev, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry of the Republic of India Anupriya Patel, heads of relevant ministries, agencies, industry associations, as well as representatives of business circles of the two countries.

Heads of delegations emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and India over the past five years have reached a qualitatively new level.

The trade turnover between the two countries increased by more than 50 percent during this period. The positive trend continues to grow. In the first half of 2022, mutual trade increased by almost 30 percent, the volume of trade amounted to 4.5 million.

The effectiveness of reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to support entrepreneurship and create a favorable environment for investors was noted. The number of enterprises with Indian capital operating in Uzbekistan since 2017 has increased almost fivefold. Over 80 joint projects worth more than billion are being implemented in various industries.

At the event, the Uzbek side came up with an initiative to mobilize unused resources in all areas of partnership.

As part of the business forum program, presentations of the investment potential of Uzbekistan in various sectors of the economy took place. 

Following the forum, several agreements were signed in private medicine, pharmaceuticals, the production of footwear and leather goods, and training of highly qualified personnel.
