MOSCOW AND SAINT PETERSBURG HOST XVI INTERNATIONAL TCHAIKOVSKY COMPETITION

The competition, which is held every four years, awards pianists, violinists, cellists and solo performers. This year the competition for the first time is being attended by musicians who play woodwind and brass instruments.

This year, 25 pianists, 25 violinists, 25 cellists, 60 singers, 96 performers on wind instruments are competing. Uzbekistan is represented by the Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Jenisbek Piyazov and graduate of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan Angelina Akhmedova, performing in solo singing.

Within the framework of the competition, J. Piyazov performed the aria of Argante from the opera Rinaldo by George Frideric Handel, the aria of Atilla from the opera Atilla by Giuseppe Verdi and the romance “I bless you, the woods”. The performance by A. Akhmedova included the Mozart’s concert aria, the Aria of Servilia from the Opera Servilia, the romance “Tell me, what is in the shadow of the branches”.

The finals will be held on June 29 in Saint Petersburg.
