Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Museum of Applied Arts in Tashkent is hosting an exhibition of national Romanian costumes dedicated to the Day of the Romanian blouse.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Uzbekistan with the kind support of the Museum of Applied Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

24 June was established by the Decree of the President of Romania as the day when the traditional Romanian blouse is celebrated, a valuable item of the national folk costume, which for centuries has been made in the homes of Romanian peasants from natural materials, woven at home, and decorations with hand-sewn ornaments from yarn, dyed in natural colors. Ornaments, which vary by region, are of rare beauty and have a meaning lost in the mists of time.

Romania pays great attention to the development of relations with Uzbekistan at all levels, including in the field of culture, as a link that can best bring our peoples together. In January of this year, the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent and the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi organized the exhibition "Romania's Contribution to the World Heritage".

In February 2022, the Romanian Embassy in Uzbekistan and the Tashkent House of Photography held a photo exhibition together about the work of the great sculptor Constantin Brancusi. In March 2022, the Embassy of Romania presented at the British School in Tashkent the national traditions of the holiday of welcoming the spring "Martisor". Also in March 2022, the Alliance Française in Tashkent hosted a screening of a wonderful documentary film "Wild Romania", which reveals the stunning beauty of the nature of Romania.

The exhibition is open to visitors from 24 June 2022 to 1 July 2022.
