Council of Prosecutors General of Turkic Speaking States established at a meeting in Baku

BAKU, November 3. /“Dunyo” IA/. Azerbaijan hosted the first meeting of the Prosecutors General of the Turkic Speaking States, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The meeting was opened with messages from the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The meeting was moderated by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev.

Uzbekistan delegation was led by Prosecutor General Nigmatulla Yuldashev.

The two-day meeting was also attended by the Prosecutors General of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, the Ambassador of Hungary, as well as the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Mirvokhid Azimov and the President of the International Association of Prosecutors Cheol-kyu Hwang.

The parties, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation in the legal sphere, noted that coordination and direct contacts between the agencies of the member states are important to eliminate cross-border threats, including extremism, drug trafficking and others.

Regulations on the establishment of the Council of Prosecutors General of Turkic Speaking States was signed to establish close ties and provide legal assistance through close cooperation, increase the efficiency of prosecutors, exchange experience and knowledge.

Following the event, bilateral meetings were organized to discuss the prospects for cooperation between the Prosecutor Generals Offices of the Turkic Council member states.
