Copper cluster to be created in Tashkent region

Due to the accelerated development of the global green economy, the increase in the use of renewable energy sources and the production of electric vehicles, the demand for copper in the world is expected to increase by 40 percent by 2030.

Based on this, work is underway to create a copper cluster in Akhangaran district of Tashkent region as part of the implementation of the Presidential Resolution “On measures to expand the technological chains for processing copper raw materials and raw materials of rare metals” of June 28, 2022.

Thus, based on the decision of the Hokim of the region, the State Unitary Enterprise “Directorate for the management of the Ohangaron Tech Industrial technopark” was created. 138 hectares of unused agricultural land were allocated for this cluster. The total cost of the new cluster, created to increase copper production, is 8 million. Within the framework of 9 new projects, the possibility of processing 54 thousand tons of copper per year will be created.

Today, copper is used in the manufacture of pipes for various industries, cable products of various types, SIM cards and bank cards, and electronic products. With the launch of the new enterprise, the export volume will amount to 0 million, and 1,000 jobs will be created.
