Bukhara hosts Uzbekistan – Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Meeting

Bukhara hosted the 21st meeting of Uzbekistan – Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Economic Cooperation.

 

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the meeting was held under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maksim Reshetnikov.
 
At the event, the current state of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific and technical spheres, as well as new promising areas for development of partnership were discussed.
 
Significant increase in the growth of trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia, which has grown by 58% over the past 3 years, was noted.
 
Prospects for expanding successful cooperation in the investment sphere were discussed. It was noted that a package of large investment projects worth more than billion is currently being implemented in petrochemistry, mining metallurgy, energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, production of building materials, textile industry, fruit and vegetable processing.
 
The parties discussed issues related to the implementation of 104 new investment projects in industrial cooperation worth .8 billion and agreed to jointly monitor the high-quality and timely implementation of each project within the agreed time frame.
