Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a memorable evening was held at the House of Cinematographers dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of an outstanding scientist, archaeologist, academician, doctor of historical sciences, scientific leader of the project "Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world" Edward Rtveladze.
The event was organized by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan. The partners of the event were the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As part of the event, a pilot edition of the book of memoirs “In Memory of Edward Rtveladze” was presented, which included more than 50 articles by his colleagues, friends, relatives and friends, as well as a presentation of the film “Alone with History”. The film includes the rarest footage related to the life and field activities of the outstanding academician.
The event was attended and addressed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sadyk Safayev, Chairman of the Editorial Board of the project "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World", Academician Akmal Saidov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and popularization of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Uzbekistan Zurab Abdushelishvilli and professor, representative of the company "Eriell Group" Yusuf Abdullayev.
Edward Rtveladze explored the colossal layers of history and culture of the Central Asian region, old and new routes of the Great Silk Road. The scientist wrote more than 800 scientific papers published both in Uzbekistan and abroad.
For his scientific work, he was awarded the Beruniy State Prize of Uzbekistan in 1985, the Buyuk Khizmatlari Uchun Order in 2001, the Mehnat Shukhrati Order in 2003, and the El-Yurt Khurmati Order in 2017. In addition, he was awarded the Order of Honor of the Republic of Georgia - "Girdebis Oredeni".
One of the most famous archaeological discoveries of recent years, made by Edward Rtveladze, is the port city of Alexandria Oksiana at the end of the 4th century BC. e., which existed on the territory of Surkhandarya until the beginning of the 1st century. AD
He took part in more than 100 archaeological expeditions in Central Asia and the North Caucasus. Rtveladze created the Tokharistan archaeological expedition in the late 1990s, which resumed research on the ancient settlement of Kampyrtepa, where for the first time in the archaeological practice of Central Asia a complete opening of the settlement was carried out, its layout and the structure of urban development of the Kushan period were revealed.
In recent years, Edward Rtveladze worked as the scientific director of the project "Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world." Under his leadership, 50 illustrated books-albums of the series "Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan in the collections of the world" were published.
He also worked on a series of books "Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan", "Historical Library", "Outstanding Scientists of Uzbekistan" as part of the World Society’s projects for the study, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
