On August 20, 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov had a telephone conversation with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The agenda and organizational aspects of the upcoming visit of the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan to Uzbekistan were discussed during the conversation.
Special attention was paid to issues of further development of cooperation in energy and transport-communication spheres.
The ministers discussed an armed attack on representatives of subsidiary Sogdiana Trans on August 20 in Afghanistan’s Balkh province.
Haneef Atmar stressed that the competent authorities of the country would thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
The Uzbek side asked to boost security regime for the personnel of Uzbekistan companies and enterprises operating in Afghanistan.
Other issues on Uzbekistan – Afghanistan agenda were also discussed during the talks.
