Uzbekistan’s potential in textile industry presented in India

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design have organized an international webinar “Weaving Relations: Textile Traditions”. It was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India and representatives of Bukhara Region Hokimiyat.

Experts in textile and silk industry, as well as artisans from Uzbekistan, India, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand, Tajikistan and Sri Lanka presented their potential in the industry.
 
The opening ceremony of the event with participation of the ambassadors of the participating countries was organized at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
 
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has sent a video message to the webinar participants. In his speech, he emphasized that the textile industry is not only of great economic importance, but also plays an important role in development of cultural dialogue between peoples.
 
According to the agenda, the webinar continued in sections, during which representatives of the participating states made reports on various current issues related to the industry.
 
Representatives of Bukhara Region Hokimiyat and artisans of the historic city told about the opportunities and the investment potential of the textile and silk industries of Uzbekistan.
