The next Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in Samarkand in September this year. On August 17-18, the SCO Women’s Forum will be held in the ancient and eternally young city. In addition, several other political, economic and cultural events, conferences and dialogues are planned to be held.
Preparations for these events are underway in Samarkand. At the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, an open-air exhibition of artists is being held in the city today, designed to convey the “Samarkand Spirit” to the peoples of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other countries.
For two weeks, about thirty artists from Russia, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will work in nature, reflecting on their canvases the grandeur and elegance of Registan Square, Shah-i-Zinda Complex, Amir Temur Mausoleum, Hazrat Khizr Mosque and other historical and cultural monuments, as well as the sights of the city of Samarkand.
Artworks, created in Samarkand, will be presented at exhibitions and cultural events held within the framework of the SCO Summit.
