On December 29, the delegation led by the
Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM of the
Russian Federation Alexey Likhachev arrived in Uzbekistan.
At the meeting with members of the
delegation held in Tashkent, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of
Uzbekistan N.Otajonov and Director General of the State Atomic Energy
Corporation ROSATOM A.Likhachev, noted that cooperation between
Uzbekistan and Russia has been consistently developing in various areas.
This visit is another important step towards further expansion and
strengthening of relations between our countries.
At the meeting between the governments of
Uzbekistan and Russia, an Agreement on cooperation in the field of
using atomic energy for peaceful purposes, aimed at implementation of
specific projects and scientific research in this field, was signed.
The document defines practical aspects of
bilateral cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy.
Such areas as production of radioisotopes and their use in industry,
medicine and agriculture, scientific and fundamental research are
perspective for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
