On November 24, 2022, the exhibition “Treasures of Uzbekistan Oases. At the Crossroads of Caravan Routes” will open at the Louvre Museum”. The exhibition is dedicated to Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage.

The exhibition at the Louvre will feature dozens of unique artifacts from Uzbekistan museums, and many of them will be presented thanks to the outstanding scientist, archaeologist Edvard Rtveladze.

Edvard Rtveladze was a member of more than 100 archaeological expeditions. He is the only scientist who walked along the route of Alexander the Great in Central Asia.

Comprehending the archaeological materials obtained as a result of various expeditions formed the basis of brilliant monographs. He wrote more than 30 of them and over 800 works on the study of the grandiose Central Asian monuments.

Rtveladze’s works have been published in the United Kingdom and Germany, Italy and the United States, France, Japan, Russia and Georgia.

Now the legacy of the scientist has been replenished with a new edition. The Art and Culture Development Foundation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers (the United Kingdom) jointly published the book “Civilizations, States and Cultures of Central Asia” in English, French and Japanese.

The book is devoted to the history of civilizations and states of Central Asia, the relationship of cultures and religions of various countries of the Eurasian continent. Chronologically, it covers the range from the Bronze Age (II millennium BC) to the 4th-5th centuries AD, although in several sections, due to a certain need, it also reflects the Middle Ages, as, for example, in the section on Sogdian sailors.

The author himself, at the stage of creating his scientific work, noted: “I hope that the book will be of interest to the reader and will make a certain contribution to the knowledge of the historical past of Central Asia”.

This work by Edvard Rtveladze played an important role in the research and preparation for the upcoming state exhibition of Uzbekistan at the Louvre in Paris.
