DRAFT DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF UZBEKISTAN 2035 IS PRESENTED

International non-governmental non-profit organization “Buyuk Kelajak” together with audit and consulting company KPMG developed a draft Development Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2035. On December 4, a preliminary presentation of this project took place at the Development Strategy Center.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Development Strategy Center, ministries and agencies, members of the expert council of “Buyuk Kelajak” organization.

– The draft strategy on each sphere indicates the forecasts, stages and specific deadlines for implementation of reforms necessary for achieving the set targets, – said Akmal Burkhonov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center. – For example, if today the share of tourism in the gross domestic product of our country is 1.4 percent, then by 2035 it is planned to bring it to 28 percent. Or, it is envisaged to bring the number of produced cars to 300 thousand per year, to increase employment in the industry by 1.5 times. These and many other plans outlined in the project, as well as mechanisms of their achievement will help to create favorable conditions for Uzbekistan to take a solid place among the developed countries.

During the presentation, macroeconomic indicators of Uzbekistan, the directions of sustainable development, the expected results from the implementation of the Development Strategy until 2035 were considered.

The participants agreed to submit the project for discussion by the general public, ministries and agencies, expert and analytical circles, government and public organizations.
