Uzbekistan grows about 66 thousand tons of vegetables in the first quarter

TASHKENT, May 6. /“Dunyo” IA/. In the first quarter of this year, 65,721 tons of vegetables were grown in Uzbekistan, which is 5 percent more than in the same period last year, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the State Statistics Committee, most of the grown vegetables fall on dehkan farms (67.3 percent) and organizations engaged in agricultural activities (20.8 percent). The share of farms is only 11.9 percent.

These indicators in the context of regions show a significant advance in Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions, which managed to grow 19,346 tons and 13,808 tons of vegetables, respectively, in the first quarter. The top five also included Bukhara (4,994 tons), Andijan (3,809 tons) and Kashkadarya (3,202 tons) regions.

Less than a thousand tons of vegetables were grown in Karakalpakstan (617 tons) and Jizzakh region (984 tons).
