Uzbekistan promotes the candidacy of Samarkand to hold the 25th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly in 2023

MADRID, November 15. /“Dunyo” IA/. Madrid hosted a meeting with the permanent representatives of the UNWTO member countries, at the initiative of the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event was attended by the heads of more than 90 foreign diplomatic missions in Madrid.

To promote the candidacy of the city of Samarkand as the venue for the 25th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly in 2023, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UNWTO, Ambassador Jakhongir Ganiyev informed the participants about the progress of the work carried out by the Uzbek side to create modern infrastructure and logistics in the city of Samarkand, as well as spoke in detail about the reforms carried out by the leadership of the country for the development of the tourism sector.

The Ambassador urged to support the city’s candidacy during the upcoming December 2 elections.

Several heads of diplomatic missions welcomed the initiative of Uzbekistan to nominate the city of Samarkand for holding the UNWTO General Assembly in 2023 and expressed their support.
