Tashkent hosts Uzbekistan – Russian Tourism Forum

TASHKENT, November 18. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, the Tourism Forum was held within the framework of the Second Forum of Uzbekistan – Russian Interregional Cooperation, via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uzbekistan, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, deputy hokims of Bukhara, Samarkand and Khorezm regions for tourism, sports and culture, heads of travel companies of the country.

Russia was represented by the leadership of the Federal Agency for Tourism and the Association of Tour Operators, ministers of the Chelyabinsk Region and the Republic of Crimea, representatives of the mayor’s offices of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, as well as travel companies.

The Uzbek side presented presentations and information on the tourism potential of the country, the development of the sphere, measures to support the private sector by the state during a pandemic, and the conditions created to receive foreign visitors.

As First Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Ulugbek Azamov noted, Russia has one of the leading places in cooperation with Uzbekistan in tourism and Russian citizens are very active in visiting the country as tourists. It was noted with satisfaction that the flow of visitors from Russia to Uzbekistan is increasing annually, and in the pre-pandemic 2019, this figure exceeded 455 thousand people.

The Russian side acquainted colleagues from Uzbekistan with programs for the development of the tourism sector in Russia, the transformation of the tourism industry during a pandemic, the development of industrial, resort and medical tourism in the regions.

Following the forum, the parties agreed to develop a set of measures to enhance cooperation in tourism, increase tourist traffic, resume air traffic, conduct a regular dialogue between travel administrations and representatives of the tourism industry of Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as more active support for the tourism business in the implementation of joint projects.
