The role of youth in combating radicalism and extremism will be discussed at the international videoconference in Tashkent

TASHKENT, February 15. /“Dunyo” IA/. On February 18, Tashkent will host an international videoconference on “The role of youth in combating radicalism, extremism and terrorism”, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event is organized by the Agency for Youth Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Uzbekistan Youth Union, GIZ, OSCE and UNDP Project coordinators in Uzbekistan, UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia.

The political and legal framework for combating the threats of extremism and radicalism among young people leading to terrorism, strengthening cooperation between the state and civil society, and preventing the promotion of such phenomena through the Internet and media will be discussed at the event.

The forum will be attended by representatives of the Chambers of the Oliy Majlis, international organizations and associations – UN, OSCE, EU, SCO, Uzbekistan Youth Union activists, scientists, national and international experts from the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Japan, Afghanistan, and Central Asian countries.

The conference program includes four sessions:

1. Legal and institutional framework for countering terrorism and radicalization among young people: international and national aspects;

2. Role of civil society institutions in countering radicalism, extremism and terrorism among youth;

3. Innovative approaches and the role of youth organizations in the prevention of extremism and terrorism;

4. Preventing violent extremism on social media.
