The possibility of opening a branch of Bangladesh University of Textiles in Uzbekistan discussed

With the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in India, negotiations were held between the leadership of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association, Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry and Vice Chancellor of BUTEX, Professor Abul Kashem, via videoconference.

 

Bangladesh University of Textiles, commonly referred to as BUTEX, is a Public Textile Engineering university in Bangladesh that emphasizes on technological education in textiles while entrepreneurial industrialization stays as its core subject of interest. The university offers academic and professional degrees in various fields of textiles technology, fashion designing, advanced business and marketing strategies and in several more disciplines on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It offers graduate programs under its five faculties.
 
During the negotiations, the possibility of opening a BUTEX branch in Uzbekistan was discussed. The Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan U. Begimkulov and Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association B. Muhammadsaidov informed in detail about the current state of development of the higher education system in Uzbekistan and cooperation with foreign higher education institutions, as well as noted the growing need in training highly qualified specialists for the textile industry in connection with the increase in the level of processing cotton and cotton yarn in the country.
 
Rector of Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry B. Onorboyev proposed to establish inter-university cooperation with BUTEX with the exchange of students and organization of joint training programs.
 
Abul Kashem expressed interest in establishing cooperation with Uzbekistan, as well as his willingness to visit Uzbekistan and receive Uzbekistan delegation at his university for further discussion of the issues raised during the negotiations.
