The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan meets with the President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly

TASHKENT, July 6. /“Dunyo” IA/. Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the President of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Uzbekistan MFA, the sides exchanged views on the state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN and its specialized structures, including in the issues of comprehensive support for young people, ensuring gender equality, creating favorable conditions for people with disabilities, combating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.

The UN General Assembly President highly appreciated the large-scale transformations carried out in Uzbekistan in the state and public construction, economic liberalization, improvement of the business environment and investment climate, protection of citizens' rights and freedoms.

The parties noted with satisfaction the unanimous adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution “On declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies”, forwarded by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In this context, the need for intensifying joint efforts to mitigate the consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea was stated. The commitment of the UN to assist in the practical implementation of the goals outlined in the document was confirmed.

The main attention was paid to the participation of UN representatives in the upcoming High-level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.
