TASHKENT, March 11. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in Islamabad, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation.
Agreements were reached on further increasing the trade turnover, expanding its range, actively implementing joint investment and infrastructure projects. To this end, the governments of the two countries are actively working on the conditions and conclusion of an agreement on preferential trade, the establishment of banking and customs cooperation, as well as the resumption of regular flights.
The foreign ministers reaffirmed the importance of uniting the efforts of the international community to facilitate the launch of inter-Afghan talks and the establishment of lasting peace in Afghanistan.
The main attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as interaction in tourism. It was noted that historically, culturally and spiritually, the ties of the civilization of our regions and countries serve as a reliable basis for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The ministers considered issues of multilateral cooperation within the UN, the OIC, the SCO, the ECO and other international and regional structures.
Prospects for further development of military-technical cooperation were also discussed.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan gratefully accepted the invitation to the International High-Level Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” to be held this year in Tashkent.
