The ceremony of presenting the Dustlik (Friendship) Order to Suma Chakrabarti, who served as the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from July 2012 to July 2020, was held at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.
The high state award was presented by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.
According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed on July 9, notes the merits of Suma Chakrabarti “in establishing strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation” between Uzbekistan and the EBRD.
In addition, the contribution of Suma Chakrabarti “to increasing the efficiency of socio-economic reform program implemented in the country, as well as supporting the formation of a favorable investment climate and business environment in the country” is emphasized.
It is also worth noting that since October 1, Suma Chakrabarti took up the duties of an Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective management and international cooperation.
Suma Chakrabarti expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He noted his readiness to make every effort for further development of Uzbekistan and strengthening its image in the world arena.
Following the ceremony, views were exchanged on prospects for further interaction and priority tasks within the framework of the upcoming cooperation.
