Two wind power plants to be built in Bukhara and Navoi regions

Within the framework of the Central Asia Energy Investment Forum, held on September 20, 2019 in Tashkent, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power on construction of wind power plants with a capacity of 500 to 1000 MW.

 

Based on this agreement, on March 5 this year, the parties signed an agreement on implementation of a project for the construction of wind power plants in Uzbekistan with a capacity of 500-1000 MW.
 
According to the document, specialists have comprehensively studied several land plots of the country. Peshkun, Gijduvan and Kanimekh districts of Bukhara and Navoi regions were chosen for the construction of 2 wind power plants with a total capacity of 1000 MW.
 
The total cost of the project is newscat="society" billion.
 
Currently, highly qualified local and foreign specialists are working on the selected land areas to determine the wind indicators. Special equipment is being installed at an altitude of 100 meters and will measure the speed, direction and duration of the wind, in addition, it will measure and store weather data.
