Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. DP-5938 of February 18, 2020 «On measures to improve the socio-spiritual environment in society, further support the institution of the mahalla and bring the system of work with families and women to a new level» and based on the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 367 of June 10, 2020, the Research Institute «Mahalla and Family» under the Ministry of Support of Mahalla and Family of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established.
Research Institute «Mahalla and Family» is a specialized state scientific institute that promotes the strengthening of mahalla and family institutions, the transformation of citizens' assemblies into real colleagues of the population and the implementation of the idea of «Healthy family - healthy society».
The function of the research institute «Mahalla and Family»:
-participate in the formation of priorities in the field of strengthening mahalla and family institutions, the implementation of interdisciplinary fundamental, scientific and practical research and innovation projects;
The Institute researches in the framework of 47 short-term projects, including the United States to gain experience in gender research, social, legal, psychological services to women victims of domestic violence, the organization of «Youth Preparation Centers for Family Life», The experiences of Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Norway, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Georgia, France, Poland, the Russian Federation, Latvia, Singapore, Sweden, and Japan were studied.
— formation of scientific and methodological bases for the development of concepts, comprehensive, targeted, sectoral and regional programs aimed at strengthening mahalla and family institutions, supporting women and the elderly and increasing social activism;
18 proposals were developed for the "Program of Measures to Prevent, Detect and stop Domestic Violence” and the Gender Research Laboratory was established;
— ensuring a healthy and stable socio-spiritual environment and peace, harmony and tranquility in mahalla and families, the development of a scientific basis for strengthening universal and national values, including family values;
Curricula on «Women's Counseling Councils», «Practical and methodological bases of preparing young brides for family life, family, society» and «Family Psychology» were prepared.
— development of normative and legal acts in the field of strengthening community and family institutions, support for women and the elderly, and increasing social activity;
Scientific proposals for the development of the legal framework of the social contract were prepared.
— organization of scientific, scientific-practical conferences, seminars, meetings on current scientific issues in the field of community and family support, as well as training of highly qualified scientific personnel in this field, continuous professional development of researchers;
3 international and 7 national scientific articles on community and family issues were published and 3 international and 6 national scientific-practical conferences were attended with the thesis. In addition, a 6-day seminar-training was held within the framework of the scientific project «Implementation of the US method» Conflict resolution «in the activities of communities to prevent family divorces and teach young people to resolve family disagreement and conflicts»;
— cooperation with educational and research institutions of the republic in their areas of activity, development of international relations with leading research institutions of foreign countries;
As a result of the meeting with the leaders of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on December 29, 2020, the project «Early marriage, premature birth» in 2021, it was decided to organize a «Summer School» for young scientists, and a scientific conference that'll be participated by international experts with the financial support of the international organization.
There is also a growing awareness of the results of scientific research in the media, including television and the Internet, as well as social activism in strengthening community and family institutions.
