International Arbitration Practices and Challenges in Central Asia During and Post COVID-19

On July 7, 2020, the Court and the International Arbitration Centre at Astana International Financial Centre, with participation of the International Commercial Court of Arbitration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized a webinar on “International Arbitration Practices and Challenges in Central Asia During and Post COVID-19”, in Nur-Sultan.

According to Uzbekistan CCI, the webinar was attended by international arbitrators, lawyers, academics in international commercial arbitration, representatives of the business community from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
 
At the webinar, it was noted that the Arbitration Courts of the system of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2007-2020 examined 27,916 cases for a total amount of 1.1 trillion UZS, and CCI ICCA examined 68 cases for a total amount of 15.9 billion UZS, and .6 million, 4.2 million Russian rubles and 39.8 thousand Euros. Companies of such countries as Belarus, Germany, Denmark, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan participated as a plaintiff or defendant in the considered cases.
