Director of the National Center for Human Rights took part in international conference

TASHKENT, November 19. /Dunyo IA/. Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation has organized IV international conference on problems of human rights protection in the Eurasian space, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The impact of the pandemic on human rights became one of the main issues discussed at the IV international conference “Problems of Human Rights Protection in the Eurasian Space: Exchange of Best Practices of Ombudsmen”.

According to the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the forum organized by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan was represented by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov.

The first plenary session of the forum was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights and the international and national implementation experience.

At the second plenary session “Lessons from the Pandemic: New Realities of the Human Rights Dimension”, participants exchanged experience that they used to counter the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

“The pandemic has grown into an unprecedented global crisis in terms of its rate and scale of spread, and has become a very serious challenge for all mankind and the global economy. I am sure that today we will formulate common approaches and coordinate our actions to jointly quickly and effectively resolve emerging issues of protecting human rights in a pandemic”, said A. Saidov.

Participants became familiar with Uzbekistan’s experience, which is used to establish effective surveillance over the epidemiological situation.
