During the working visit to the Russian Federation, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow.

This monument, which has universal significance, was created as a tribute to the immortal memory of millions of soldiers of various nationalities, including Uzbekistan people, who fought bravely and died for their homeland in World War II. The memorial with the inscription “Your name is unknown, your deed is immortal” symbolizes the heroism and feat of our ancestors.

Despite the fact that hostilities took place far beyond the borders of our country, hardships and suffering affected every Uzbek family, a tremendous contribution was made to ensuring victory over fascism. Therefore, about 1 million 951 thousand people were mobilized for the war, more than 200 thousand soldiers and officers were awarded. 1.5 million people were evacuated to Uzbekistan, including more than 250 thousand children. Our generous people sheltered them and shared the last piece of bread.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev honored the memory of patriots who sacrificed their lives in the name of a peaceful future for humanity.

A fire always burns in the center of the memorial, erected in 1966-1967. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a place of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation.
