UZBEKISTAN BECOMES A MEMBER OF TWO INTERNATIONAL TREATIES OF THE WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION

On July 17, 2019, the Performances and Phonograms Treaty and Copyright Treaty, adopted on December 20, 1996 within the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organization, entered into force for the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Currently, 101 countries and the European Union are members of these WIPO Treaties.

The treaties are also known as WIPO Internet Treaties and set the basic standards for the protection of copyright and related rights in digital environment.

WIPO Internet Treaties laid the foundation for a balanced system of protection in a new technological context in areas such as interactive transmission of copyright content, limitation of copyright protection and promotion of technologies promoting the dissemination and use of creative content.
