
The UN General Assembly in New York adopted a resolution entitled “Decade of Action on Afforestation and Reforestation through Sustainable Forest Management” at the initiative of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The resolution was co-sponsored by more than 80 countries, representing all regions of the world, including the countries of Central Asia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Brazil, Austria, Germany, Finland, Portugal, India, Iran, Pakistan, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain.
This document was created on the basis of the main initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the “Year of Environmental Protection and ‘Green’ Economy” program, the “Green Space” national project, and the “Central Asian Green Belt” tree planting campaign.
The resolution declares 2027–2036 as the Decade of Action for Afforestation and Forest Restoration, calls for the mobilization of efforts and resources, and recommends that countries and organizations strengthen relevant measures.
