Prospects for enhancing trade and economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting of the Uzbek delegation at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran

TEHRAN, March 9. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Furkat Sidikov met with the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Hamid Zadboom, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.

Investment cooperation is a priority area of Uzbekistan – Iranian relations. In 2020, the number of companies with participation of Iranian capital in Uzbekistan increased by almost 40 and the total number exceeded 290.

Promising areas in the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan for Iranian investors are the production of building materials, pharmaceutical, chemical, textile industries, as well as agriculture.

The parties expressed mutual interest in enhancing collaboration. Agreements were reached on preparations for holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, intensifying direct contacts between the businesspeople of the two countries.
