Uzbekistan delegation discusses prospects for expanding cooperation in transport

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has held talks with the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan Ali Haider Zaidi, in Islamabad.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the parties considered issues of bilateral interaction on expanding transport and logistics cooperation, taking into account the adoption of joint measures to intensify freight traffic through the territories of the two countries and the implementation of joint projects aimed at developing transport infrastructure.
 
In this context, the Pakistani side expressed its readiness to provide consulting and technical assistance in the joint development of optimal conditions for Uzbekistan to use the developed infrastructure of the ports of Gwadar, Karachi and Qasim, for which a group of Uzbekistan experts in transport will be sent to Pakistan in the near future.
 
Following the talks, an agreement was reached to create a working group at the level of the heads of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the Federal Ministry of Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, as well as the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) in order to develop and agree on mechanisms for practical interaction in the designated areas.
