Uzbekistan and Afghanistan continue cooperation in the field of transport

TASHKENT, February 27. /“Dunyo” IA/. Issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of economy, transport and communications were discussed during the meeting of officials of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, informs “Dunyo” IA correspondent according to the information of the Press-service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with Yama Shams, Acting Minister of Transport of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the representative of Afghanistan expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s efforts in restoring the national economy of Afghanistan, support for the launch of a peaceful political process in the country, as well as economic projects that benefit the interests of the Afghan people.

The parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the economic and transport-communication spheres. In particular, Uzbekistan’s participation in the implementation of major infrastructure projects in Afghanistan.

The officials discussed the issue of increasing the volume of Uzbekistan transit cargo through the territory of Afghanistan to the third countries.

Special Representative and Acting minister agreed to further elaborate and sign bilateral documents on procedures for interaction and coordination between air traffic services bodies, as well as on international road transport.
