The U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues to visit Uzbekistan

WASHINGTON, November 20. /Dunyo IA/. On November 18, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoyev has met with the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, Kelley Currie, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the American side was informed in detail about measures taken in Uzbekistan to protect women’s interests, increase their role in socio-political and economic life of Uzbekistan, about activities of the Special Commission on Gender Equality, and made proposals to enhance bilateral cooperation in this sphere.

Kelley Currie highly appreciated measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to ensure gender equality and promote broad involvement of women in socio-political life of the country. She expressed a positive assessment of the country’s efforts to implement education programs in Uzbekistan for Afghan women.

The American side noted that the U.S. Government welcomes the decisive changes in Uzbekistan in this area.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is becoming a model for comprehensive promotion of women's full participation in all the process of building a progressive state.
