The President of Uzbekistan to take part in the Summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia

On July 21, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, will visit the city of Cholpon-Ata in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are also expected to take part in the summit under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side.

The agenda of the meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian countries includes issues of further expansion of practical cooperation, including in trade, transport and logistics, industrial cooperation, innovation, food security, tourism, cultural and humanitarian exchange and other areas.

The main attention will be paid to strengthening interaction in a joint response to modern challenges and threats to the stability and sustainable development of Central Asia.

Following the summit, it is planned to adopt several important multilateral documents.

It should be emphasized that the initiative to hold a Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia was put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2017 during the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The first summit of the leaders of the region was held in March 2018 in Nur-Sultan, the second – in November 2019 in Tashkent, the third meeting – in August last year in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan.
